Recently a friend returned to Southampton after 10 years away.
He was absolutely appalled and saddened at the levels of litter on Southampton’s residential streets, in particular the disgusting amount in Millbrook and Freemantle.
He asked the question: have the people in Southampton stopped caring?
He made a good point which led to further questions:
If there is rubbish outside someone’s property why would they not demonstrate responsibility and care and pick up the litter and place it in their wheelie bin?
Secondly, if litter is a concern in the area why haven’t the residents made contact with Southampton’s council to request a litter clearance?
If residents cared the streets wouldn’t be in such a disgusting state.
The solutions are simple. Let’s see some responsibility, concern and action. It’s not beneath you Soton residents!
It’s the elephant in the room and nobody seems bothered!
