POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man was robbed in Southampton yesterday.

A man in his 20s was robbed by two men outside of Shanghai Bay, next to Boots, on Above Bar Street at 11.20am.

Two men were reported to have approached a man and were seen to assault him before stealing his money outside the Chinese restaurant.

Officers said a 27-year-old and a 28-year-old from Southampton were arrested on suspicion of robbery and then released, but remain under investigation.

Police are calling for witnesses to come forward.

Detective Constable Paddy Coughlin, from the Western Investigation Team, said: “This incident happened at a busy location in the city centre and was reported to us by a number of people. However we believe there are more witnesses that saw what happened.
