AMONG the cases recently heard at Southampton Magistrates’ Court were:

Gary Malpass, 26, of Applewood Gardens, Sholing. Pleaded guilty to breaching a restraining order by entering Wavel Road, Southampton. Committed to prison for six weeks, suspended for 12 months. Ordered to pay £85 costs and £115 victim surcharge.

Connor Mayhew, 23, of Abercrombie Gardens, Southampton. Pleaded guilty to stealing confectionary, drinks and fresh goods from Sainsbury’s. Fined £50. Ordered to pay £14 compensation and £42.50 costs.

Richard Russell, 25, of Ludlow Road, Woolston. Pleaded guilty to assault. Community order made. Ordered to pay £50 compensation and £40 costs.

John Peatroy, 56, of Toynbee Road, Eastleigh. Found guilty of assault and damaging a BMW belonging to his victim in Eastleigh. Community order and restraining order made. Ordered to pay £100 costs and £85 victim surcharge.

Barrie Richardson, 36, of Longleat Gardens, New Milton. Pleaded guilty to causing harassment, alarm or distress by using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviours. Community order made. Ordered to pay £150 costs and £85 victim surcharge.

Lee Smith, 35, of Exford Avenue, Harefield. Pleaded guilty to assault. Fined £200. Ordered to pay £300 costs and £50 compensation.

Matthew Danko, 42, of Kingsground, Eltham. Found guilty of driving along West Quay Road, Southampton while using a mobile phone. Fined £220. Ordered to pay £620 costs and £30 victim surcharge. Licence endorsed with six penalty points.

Billy Phillips, 21, of Tickleford Drive, Southampton. Pleaded guilty to three charges of assault. Committed to prison for four months. Restraining order made to protect victims. ordered to pay £250 compensation.

Ian Sharp, 49, of Denzil Avenue, Southampton. Pleaded guilty to stealing a £35 coat from Primark, on Above Bar Street. Discharged conditionally for 12 months. Ordered to pay £40 costs and £20 victim surcharge.

Nigel Allen, 53, of Millbrook Road West, Southampton. Pleaded guilty to breaching notification requirements made under the Sexual Offences Act 2003. Discharged conditionally for 12 months. Ordered to pay £20 victim surcharge.

Azad Khan, 41, of Denzil Avenue, Southampton. Pleaded guilty to breaching the Animal Welfare Act after being disqualified from having a pet. Fined £200. Ordered to pay £300 costs and £30 victim surcharge.

Michael David Patterson Thomson, 55, of Estridge Close, Bursledon. Pleaded guilty to using threatening words with intent to cause distress. The offence was racially aggravated. Community order made including rehabilitation activity requirement and 60 hours of unpaid work. Compensation £100. Victim surcharge £85. Costs £85.

Sarah Louise Sign, 32, of Horns Drove, Rownhams. Pleaded guilty to driving while using a mobile phone. Fined £40. Victim surcharge £30. Costs £85. Disqualified for holding or obtaining a driving licence for six months.
