A CAMPAIGN for applause in the 15th minute of tomorrow’s Saints match against Stoke in memory of a young Saints fan who died earlier this year is gaining momentum.

Louie Fray was the young the young Saints fan pictured in his father’s arms after a crushing defeat at Bristol Rovers in 2008.

A decade on and Louie Fray’s life was cut tragically short, dying of a brain tumour two days before his 16th birthday.

Now his family are calling for fellow supporters to spread the word to give him the send-off he deserves.

It will mark 10 years since Louie cried into his father’s arms, when Saints lost 1-0 away to Bristol Rovers in the FA Cup. Future Saints star Rickie Lambert scored the winner, taking Rovers into the quarter finals.

Last month the Daily Echo revealed the family’s plea for fans to unite in memory of Louie.

Dad Kevin said that after the article appeared in the Echo the campaign went viral.

Saints legend Matt Le Tissier tweeted: “Let’s give Louie the send-off he deserves.”

Kevin said: “Louie would be humbled by this tribute to him. But he was also very modest, so we want fans to add their own tributes.

“If you are a parent attending with your own children or have recently lost a loved one, use the 15th minute to stand up and applaud in celebration or tribute to them.

He added: “Set a reminder on your mobile phones for 3.14pm on Saturday. Then, in the 15th minute, stand up and join in with the applause.”
