IT HAD the atmosphere of a lavish countryside event and pack all the fun of the fair - a countryman’s dream.
The Botleigh Grange Fair held on August 11, 1979 brought together town and country with a myriad of entertainment.
The picturesque setting of the Botleigh Grange Hotel enhanced the country fair which brought hundreds of people to the area.
Hunt chairman Peter Humphrey told the Daily Echo at the time: “We are getting more support all the time. People realise that hunting is a good way of enjoying the countryside.”
Among the pursuits visitors could try were fly-fishing, clay pigeon shooting and bale totting.
The fair was organised by Hursley Hambledon Hunt.
