WITH regard to the planning permission for the new Lidl store on the site of the former police station in Shirley, I read with interest that Southampton planners are looking to refuse permission for the building of this store.
I respectfully suggest that the planners look back at the planning application that the residents of Redbridge (Gover Road, Test Lane, Westover road) and others tried to stop: the building of three rather large factory-style buildings in a residential area at the end of Gover Road and Test Lane. This application was granted when it really should have been refused.
Therefore I respectfully say to the council planners to let this store go ahead instead of using double standards which they used to grant the planning permission for the Test Lane/Gover Road site.
