STUDENTS from Sparsholt College lent a helping hand to Kings Worthy Primary School when a team went along to help maintain the school's woodland walk.

The students, on the level one woodland skills course, spent five mornings helping to maintain the site and installed 13 bird boxes, working as a team as part of their course.

The four-acre site is used as an outside learning space and is managed by school site manager Chris Carr. It includes an Anderson shelter, a Celtic round house, ponds, a bird hide, an eco-allotment and Roman garden, all of which have benefited from the support of external volunteers.

Kings Worthy Primary School site manager Chris Carr said: “The woodland walk offers our children a fantastic outside area that complements their curricular learning and has benefited no end from the support of external groups to maintain it. Sparsholt College students worked really hard and we’re very grateful for everything they have done.”

Sparsholt College Woodland Skills tutor James Luke said: “Working with Kings Worthy Primary has given our students the opportunity to use their professional skills and also support this great outdoor space. They felt a real sense of satisfaction being able to contribute to the life of the school.”
