NEW parking restriction are to be put in place in Twyford following concerns over residents' safety.
Double yellow lines will be added to Shawford Road in a bid to stop inconsiderate commuter parking. As a result, waiting and parking restrictions will be imposed.
However, the plans to introduce the restrictions were met with a number of objections, including Compton and Shawford Parish Council who said: "The parish council has a policy where it will not support additional parking restrictions without greater consultation with all parties, reasoning that it is necessary to include not just those directly affected but also road users and commuters to ensure all voices are heard.
"There is concern that piecemeal restrictions simply migrates the problem."
Another unnamed objector said that there was no need for the restrictions and that the restriction may divert traffic in Twyford.
Support was expressed by Twyford Parish Council and the Shawford Village Residents Association, although both expressed concerns about certain aspects of the restrictions.
