SOUTHAMPTON resident and Unite the Union's south east regional secretary Jennie Formby has been named as the new general secretary of the Labour party.
As reported Ms Formby said she would be proud to be the first woman in the post in a generation, and only the second ever
She received strong backing from Jeremy Corbyn and leader of Southampton City Council, Simon Letts, who said it was "high time there was a female general secretary."
