I READ with interest the support for the concrete anti-terror barriers in Winchester.
It got me wondering, ugly as they are in our historic city, whether we now need these everywhere in the county, or whether it’s just Winchester?
And indeed, what they are stopping?
Delivery vehicles presumably still need to deliver to shops, and, as Salisbury has seen, there are more effective ways of disrupting cities these days that concrete bollards won’t stop.
Maybe we are all just reassured that the council is doing something, irrespective of the cost, effectiveness and the appearance?
