POLICE are searching for two men who drove into a Southampton pharmacy in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Members of staff have been standing guard outside the Lloyds Pharmacy in Lordshill after it was targeted by ram-raiders shortly before 3.30am.

The front of the pharmacy was destroying in the incident, where two men reversed a Hyundai car into the shop, according to officers.

One employee outside the branch on Saturday said: "They must have driven away in the vehicle because I was called out at 3.30am and it wasn't here when I arrived.

"They will try to get us open ASAP – even if it means putting a portable building on the forecourt outside."

Asked if anything had been stolen, she added: "We don't really know – we can't get inside to assess anything."

One shopper surveying the damage said: "I can't believe it – the vehicle they used must have been written off."

Another added: "Think of the noise – it must have been like a bomb going off."

A spokeswoman for Hampshire Constabulary said they received a report of the incident at 3.28am on March 24. The raiders stole perfume but she was unable to say what the value of the perfume was.
