Six new industrial units designed to be used as trade counters or distribution centres are taking shape at a new development just west of Southampton city centre.

The units are being built on the site of the former Truvox building at Third Avenue, Millbrook, by the developer Maytrees Ltd on the main western approach in to Southampton City Centre.

Cladding works are close to completion for units 2 to 6 at this scheme, with Unit 1 comprising nearly 8,000 sq ft under offer to a national trade counter occupier and several parties interested in the remaining units.

Millbrook is in a popular trade area, with the adjacent Southampton Trade Park home to Topps Tiles, Toolstation, Crown Decorating Centre and Jewsons.

Commercial property specialists at Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH), joint agents for the scheme with Chesters Commercial, expect high levels of interest because of the trade park’s location and the suitability of the units for trade counter use.

Adrian Whitfield, Director, Industrial and Logistics at LSH’s South Coast offices, said: “These new units are built with trade counter or storage and distribution businesses in mind and will bring significant new employment while complementing the businesses already in the area.

“We’re seeing very high levels of interest while the units are still being constructed with nearly 50% of the floor space already under offer and look forward to welcoming new occupiers when the site is completed in June 2018.”

The new units have full planning permission for business use, industrial, storage and distribution. They range between 2,604 sq ft and 3,950 sq ft in size and can be combined for larger requirements if required. The total development is 23,700 sq ft and is well served with road links to Junction 3 of the M27.
