A CAR smashed into a tree after evading police during a chase in Southampton.

And officers are now appealing to members of the public for dash cam footage of the incident, in Thornhill on Good Friday (March 30).

A silver Ford Focus failed to stop for police, who began pursuing the car.

The Ford then collided with a tree on the Kanes Hill roundabout shortly after 8pm.

Police say they were not in pursuit of the car at the time of the crash and the incident has not been referred to the Indepedent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).

No one was injured as a result of the collision.

However, police arrested two people.

PC Della Quick said: “The car had been driving around the Kanes Hill estate and West End Road earlier that evening, so we would like to speak to anyone who saw it prior to the collision.

“We are also keen to talk to anyone who may have dash cam footage of the car, which has a registration ending FNA, that evening.”
