A cruise liner will be making her first visit to Southampton following a multi-million pound refit.

Princess Cruises has completed an extensive two-week refit of Sapphire Princess , which will sail out of Southampton this year and in 2019.

The refurbishment on the its 2,670-passenger ship was carried out in Singapore.

Sapphire Princess, previously based in Asia, has recently departed Singapore for the UK and will arrive in Southampton for the first time in her 14-year history in May.

The ship will use the city as the embarkation point from May to October in 2018 followed by a slightly longer season from April to October in 2019.

A variety of voyages are on offer, largely to the Mediterranean and northern Europe, as well as a 24-day Canada & New England voyage in 2019.

Sapphire Princess's refit has included upgrades to the spa and treatment room and the gym, and the addition of a new boutique from Effy jewellers, a large-scale LED screen, measuring 15m wide and 4.5m, for use in the theatreand Princess Cruises’ signature logo on the ship’s bow

The 952ft-long ship was built in Japan by Mitsubishi.
