A BAR manager who was more than double the drink drive limit caused a three car collision.

Joshua Reynolds, who according to his Facebook page works for the Cricketers Arms, in Chandler’s Ford, was arrested by officers when he drove his Vauxhall Corsa into a two other vehicles in Chalvington Road, Eastleigh.

Police were called after one of the car’s owners saw the 33-year-old car collide with a Peugeot which cannoned into another vehicle.

Sital Mond, prosecutor, told Southampton Magistrates’ Court: “When he was interviewed with officers, he said that his family members and friends said he has a problem with alcohol.”

When given a roadside test, Reynolds was found to have 92mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath – which exceeded the legal limit of 35mg.

In a probation report compiled on Reynolds, an officer stated that on March 5, the day of the incident, he had gone into Eastleigh on his own to buy some food but ended up drinking in a pub.

It added that since Reynolds had moved to the area he had become “isolated” from his family and friends.

Reynolds, who represented himself, said: “I did not think about this and obviously it was a really bad mistake.

“I know it was wrong and there is no reason for why it happened.

“I’m aware it could have been a lot worse.”

Reynolds, of Chestnut Avenue, Eastleigh, pleaded guilty to driving when alcohol level above limit.

He was given to a 12-month community order, which includes a requirement for him to carry out 80 hours unpaid work and to attend 15 rehabilitation activity requirement days.

Reynolds was also banned from driving for 24 months and ordered to pay £85 costs and £85 victim surcharge.
