A PENSIONER walking her dog was knocked over and injured by an off-road motorbike rider in Southampton Common.

The 68-year-old victim was with two dogs when she heard the vehicle approach from behind her.

It crashed into her, knocking her to the ground, and the lead from one of the dogs caught caught in the bike.

Police say the dog was able to escape from the lead without injury and the motorbike drove off with the lead dragging behind it.

The incident happened on a footpath near Burgess Road, opposite the Sunrise Living accommodation, shortly before 8pm on Thursday, April 26, and the woman was left with bruising.

Officers say the off-road bike was white and the male rider was wearing a white helmet and a light-coloured clothing.

He was described as being in his late teens, about five feet five inches tall, and of a slim build.

PC Jordan Williams said: “This off-road motorbike would have been driving through the common that evening so if you saw it please get in touch.

“It still had the dog lead dragging from the vehicle, so it would have been quite distinctive at the time.

“We would also like to speak to the man who stopped to help the victim as he may have information which could help with our investigations.

“If you know who the rider is, or if you have seen a similar vehicle driving around please let us know.”
