FIREFIGHTERS rushed to Winchester's police HQ yesterday afternoon, closing a city centre road, only for it to be a false alarm.
Three crews arrived in Tower Street shortly after 12pm, but found the alarm had been set off by an "overheating electrical" supply, rather than a blaze.
Speaking to an officer in the city centre, he told the Chronicle that a power cut on Tuesday evening had been causing problems at the base, just off High Street.
