I FIND it very distressing the number of ram-raids that are attacking local shops.
Is it not about time shops fitted external CCTV to protect themselves or at least capture images of those responsible to enable capture?
Also fitting bollards in front of those stores at greater risk will also prevent ram-raiders.
None of this is rocket science and could literally be carried out in a couple of days after planning permission is sought.
When I sat on licensing on the council, all night-time venues had to have CCTV cover. Perhaps it's time to extend this rule to late-night shops as well. Most have substandard internal CCTV, they need to fit up-to-date external cameras as well.
It's not about Big Brother, it's about keeping everyone safe on the streets..
