AN arts charity has been awarded a hefty grant to support its work in the community.

Live Theatre Winchester Trust applied for £30,000 to support community activity and outreach programmes to engage with a wider diversity of Hampshire people.

The county council’s member for culture, recreation and countryside Cllr Andrew Gibson approved the application.

These activities, the trust says, will “support people’s empathy and awareness of others in the community and will be beneficial to their health and wellbeing”.The costs of the projects is £60,000 – the trust has already secured an additional £30,000 from Winchester City Council.

The bid was backed by local councillors, Jan Warwick, Martin Tod and Dominic Hiscock.
