A MAN was rushed to hospital with life threatening injuries after falling from a road bridge in Southampton, police say.
The man, in his 20s, fell onto Maybray King Way, Bitterne, shortly after 1pm yesterday.
Paramedics from South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) and Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance's (HIOWAA) ground team treated the man at the scene.
A spokesperson for SCAS said the man had suffered "multiple life threatening injuries".
Hampshire Constabulary also attended.
Officers shut off the road in both directions for a short period while paramedics were on the scene.
The man has since been rushed to the major trauma centre at University Hospital Southampton in a critical condition.
All road closures have now been lifted, according to police.
In April 2017, police launched an investigation after a 60-year-old man plunged from the same bridge onto Maybray King Way
The man fell about 30ft and died from his injuries after landing on concrete.
Police and paramedics dashed to the scene amid reports that someone had toppled over a parapet and was in the middle of the road.
Paramedics fought to save the man’s life but police later confirmed that he had died from his injuries.
