THIS is what a children's play area could look like after a £93,000 revamp.

The proposed enlarging of the play park at Doe Copse Way is the next phase of New Milton Town Council’s investment programme to provide high quality children’s play facilities across the town.

The proposals on the site will offer a wide range of play equipment for youngsters aged up to 10, increasing the existing park size but "ensuring it fits sympathetically within its surroundings", the council said.

Over the next few weeks it will be consulting with residents and children on the final choice of equipment and layout.

Plans of the park will be displayed on site, at the Town Hall and on the authority's website.

The budget for the new park is £93,000, with the project funded entirely by developers’ contributions from Section 106 monies.

The council said it hopes to start the works this summer with completion before the winter.

Cllr Geoffrey Blunden, chairman of the council's amenities committee, said: “I’m really pleased we are able to get another new play park underway in New Milton.

"If this encourages more children to get out in the fresh air enjoying play and exercise it will be money well spent.

"Watching our children having fun at the park rather than them glued to a mobile phone or tablet is a big result for me."
