Thousands of music lovers have descended on Southampton Common for a weekend of music and entertainment.

Despite conflicting weather reports the sun is still shining and all looks set fair for a day jam packed with family entertainment.

So far crowds have enjoyed sets on the Main Stage by local band Pivotal who won the I Want to Play at Common People competition, followed by the bizarre but brilliant Elvana who mash up the hits of Elvis and Nirvana complete with Vegas era Elvis jumpsuit.

Following a dreamy set by the indie band Plastic Mermaids with shimmering gold tasselled capes we are looking forward to watching Southampton's Garage band FooR.

They told the Daily Echo they are "really excited to be playing on the Main Stage. We can't wait for our home town to get behind us. It really means a lot to us". They plan to play tracks from their new album ' Friends of FooR.'

They will be followed by rising indie stars The Sherlocks who told us they left their home town of Sheffield at 3 am this morning to be here and couldn't wait to play the UK debut of their new song Magic Man.

Also performing today will be Sparks, All Saints, James and Lily Allen.

Then on Sunday, get your flares on for a disco-tastic line-up that will see revellers bask in the dazzling reflection of the world’s largest disco ball and fill their dancing boots with sets from Prince's band The New Power Generation, Sparks, Boney M, Snap!, FooR, Jungle Brothers and Hak Baker.

New for this year is the Carnival Stage which will see performances from DJ Yoda, a $hit Disco takeover with HAAi, Kiwi, Fred V & Grafix, Holy Goof and Barely Legal

Rock action can be found on the Uncommon Stage hosted by The Joiners. Demob Happy, The Rising, The Collision, Deference, Pioneers and Miss Vincent will blast on Saturday. While Dream Wife, Pale Seas, Ben Goddard, Saints of Sin, Toreador, Josh Savage and Lauran Hibberd perform on Sunday.

Finally there’s the Kids Garden featuring kids Bushcraft, BigTopMania with Face painting, glitter, crazy inflatables, and have-a-go circus equipment including, juggling, slackline, poi and circus performances. There will also be a Vintage Fun Fair with swing boats, helter skelter, and a big wheel.
