The sun continues to shine as the second day of Common People delights thousands of revellers on The Common.

Southampton’s The Edit opened the main stage ready for a packed day of music and entertainment that will see The Jacksons headline tonight.

12 hours after Lily Allen closed Saturday’s show, the local lads  - who have only been together for just over a year - opened with the song Skittles and drew an impressive early crowd. They finished with new single, I Am King.

After coming off stage, frontman Campbell Kent, from Shirley, told the Daily Echo: “We’re all from Southampton and have been coming to this festival for years, so to play the main stage in our home town is a dream come true.”

The Edit were followed by Southampton’s Indie stars Wild Front, who raced back to the city to play their second festival of the weekend after joining Courteeners and Jake Bugg in Warrington yesterday.

They played new single, Simmer Down, and favourites Physics and Rico. The band are set to play the IOW Festival next month.

Next up the brutally honest and real Hak Baker took to the main stage with his gritty and socially aware nostalgic guitar ballads.

Hak was in high spirits as he challenged a man in the crowd to a drink-off involving who could down a beer the fastest. Three rounds later Hak emerged the champion (although he did need to sit down backstage for a good few minutes after).

American hip-hop band, The Jungle Brothers, continued to ramp up the party atmosphere with their crowd pleasing mix of mid nineties hip house.

We’re now looking forward to Snap! and the ultimate party band, The Cuban Brothers with their famous tongue-in-cheek blend of funk, soul and riotous comedy.

They will be followed by Jaguar Skills, Boney M, New Power Generation and finally The Jacksons at 9.15pm.
