IT SEEMS that we can find £24 million to cover the security costs for the royal wedding but not the cash to repair potholes. With all their billions, the royals should have footed the security bill for what, after all, was a family wedding.

The potholes in my area of Lordswood are fast becoming crater size. Not only do they cause serious damage to vehicles but they are also life- threatening. Motor and pedal cyclists are particularly at risk. This is a scenario which is repeated across the city and country.

Many of our road surfaces cracked up following the hard winter but that was nearly six months ago and still very little has been done to repair them.

In this hi-tech age we are still a million miles away from getting to grips to what has become an annual highway farce.

The council thinks that just chalking a white circle around these huge holes is enough to show the public that the authority is taking action.

Cash from council chiefs’ eye watering salaries could also be diverted towards filling these gaping holes. Not to mention the huge contribution of taxpayers’ money which subsidise local government pensions.
