1 In Bursledon...

This weekend it's all about scarecrows at Manor Farm Country Park with Scarecrows in Spring. Play scarecrow bingo in trail around the park trail, compete in the Scarecrow Olympics, listen to a story, and get creative with some scarecrow crafts and sunflower seed planting. Normal farm admission charges apply and the trail costs £2 per trail to include a prize. Manor Farm and country park has plenty for the family to do – visit the farm and meet the lovely animals, including the rabbits and chickens, pack some paper and crayons and do bark and leaf rubbings, play a family game in the many wide open areas or go crabbing in the river.

2 In Bassett...

The enchanting world of the BAFTA award-winning CBeebies duo Sarah and Duck will come to life live on stage at NST Campus this weekend, in a brand new theatrical treat for children aged three and above – Sarah and Duck’s Big Top Birthday.

Join wide-eyed, seven-year-old girl Sarah and her feathered best friend Duck as they plan a birthday party in their garden for Scarf Lady and some of her favourite friends, including The Ribbon Sisters, The Shallots, Flamingo and Umbrella. Told through a fantastic blend of inventive puppetry, charming storytelling and toe-tapping music, and featuring all the familiar voices from the CBeebies series including Roger Allam as the Narrator and Lesley Nicol as Scarf Lady, Sarah and Duck’s Big Top Birthday promises to be a magical adventure for all the family.

Take part in a Goalie Wars and Football Festival on Saturday at Bay House School, Gomer Lane between 10 am and 2pm. There is a host of activities on offer, including a Goalie Wars Tournament, Free Kick Challenge, Penalty Shoot Out/Beat The Goalkeeper, Fastest Kick/Radar, football coaching, bouncy castle 5-a-side tournament and lots of food and drink. 4 In Brockenhurst...

Take the family to Brockenhurst College for a summer fun day on Sunday between 11am and 3pm – there’s going to be something for everyone. There’ll be children’s rides, a bouncy castle, face-painting, sporting activities, a treasure hunt and much more. A local producer's market will also be featuring in the Super Family Fun Day, which will be packed full of food and drink along with other products created by local artisans. Entrance is £2 per adult, £1 for 3-12 year olds and under 3s go free. Any money raised will go back into the community through the College and the 8th New Forest Scout group, so don’t miss the opportunity to enjoy this summer highlight – it’s going to be a Super Sunday.

Jay Foreman's Disgusting Songs for Revolting Children is showing at the Salberg on Saturday at 11am and 2pm, providing a devilishly cheeky hour of songs, poems and comedy for children of all ages, which regularly sells out at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Jay Foreman is an award winning musical comedian whose songs have been heard on BBC Radio 4, Radio 4 Extra, The One Show, London Live TV and Dave Gorman’s UK/Ireland tour.

Take part in the Hedgehogs at Hinton trail this weekend between 10am – 5pm for a suggested donation of £1. Hedgehogs like living at Hinton Ampner because they can roam freely for food, and there are lots of cosy places where they can set up home. Hedgehogs need our help more than ever though, so follow this family trail through the gardens and parkland to find out why we need hedgehog-sized holes in our garden fences. There are lots of fun activities to try on the trail including how to make a hedgehog home.

7 In Beaulieu...

Enter the world of spies and soldiers at Beaulieu on Saturday and join forensic investigators from the Specialist Operations Regiment, Royal Military Police as they show you how to dust for fingerprints, collect evidence and photograph the scene of a crime. Dress up as a soldier, see a selection of wartime vehicles being driven around the attraction and talk to Lord Montagu’s falconer about the role of falconry in World War II.

The Moomins are heading from Moominvalley to The Berry in Hedge End tomorrow! Open a book and discover a world where anything is possible. Be sure to pack your imagination and join the Moomins on an unforgettable journey to Moominvalley where everyone is welcome, nature thrives and adventures are plentiful. Magical puppetry, an ingenious set, original music and interactive play will delight young audiences aged 4 to 7 years and encourage them to immerse themselves in a unique participatory story-telling experience. Expect snow, surprises and plenty of Moomin mischief.

The Vyne’s beautiful 18th-century Soho tapestries are currently away from home, undergoing essential conservation work. Whilst waiting for their return they've created a fun Lost Tapestries challenge for families. Follow the trail (suggested donation £1) across the grounds to recover and fit together jigsaw pieces to create your own oriental tapestry. There’s a Tudor animals trail too, or if you want to go further afield you can hunt for 16th-century-themed ‘treasures’ on the geocaching route.

10 In Winchester...

Winchester City Mill has a range of activities taking place over the weekend. Tomorrow, between 11am and 3pm is pumpkin seed planting, encouraging children to discover the delights of growing your own veg. They can have lots of fun planting up pumpkin seeds in a pot to take home and bring on themselves. Saturday and Sunday between 10am and 4pm, to get everyone in the mood for this year’s River Itchen Duck Race on August 25, there is some fantastic duck-themed fun inside this ancient Mill. Little ones need to study the questions and duck facts on display around the Mill to build their very own racing duck profile.
