TENS of thousands of off-road racing fans raced to see the British Motocross Grand Prix last weekend at Matterley Basin, near Winchester.

The world’s best riders came to test their skills at the temporary track built specifically for the two-day BritMXGP event.

Matterley Basin has been used for major motocross events since 2006, and has hosted the British Motocross Championship eight times.

Event promoter Steve Dixon said: “We had some amazing racing last year at the Motocross of Nations, and it was incredible to see the British boys back on the podium.

"I want to thank everyone who made the journey and braved the mud and rain to be a part of the incredible atmosphere that Matterley has to offer.

“This is possible thanks to the landowner Peveril Bruce, the SD Events Team, Youthstream, ACU, Winchester Council and the support of the fans.”

who have made Matterley Basin one of the most stable GP venues on the calendar, whilst maintaining it’s origin as a working farm for 50 weeks of the year.”
