IT IS going to be a rare and a spectacular sight.

All three Cunard Queens – Queen Mary 2, Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria – are set to arrive together in Southampton on August 10.

And now to mark the occasion one lucky young Daily Echo reader is to have the chance to win a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

In honour of the Three Queens coming to their home port simultaneously the Daily Echo and famous cruise company have joined forces to give one young reader the chance to win a day in the life of a Cunard captain.

The winner will have the opportunity to take a unique look into the role of a Cunard captain, spending the day behind the scenes on board the Cunard flagship Queen Mary 2.

One of the Cunard captains will share stories of sailing the seven seas.

The lucky winner will speed around the Cunard fleet in a private boat tour and enjoy a VIP lunch.

There will also be some extra mementos to take home to remember the day.

To apply, aspiring captains aged between seven and 16 years old, will need write to Cunard and explain, in no more than 200 words, why they should be captain for the day.

HOW TO ENTER

APPLICANTS must provide their name, address, date of birth and the name and email address of a parent or guardian who gives permission for them to enter the competition.

This can be done by completing a special permissions form available, along with terms and conditions, which are available below by clicking on the links.

Entries, complete with that form, must be emailed to iwanttobeacaptain@cunard.co.uk or posted to Cunard Captain’s Competition, Carnival House, Southampton, SO15 1ST.

The closing date is July 15, when Cunard captains will select their favourite entry.

Winners will be notified by July 22.

Entrants must be available to be in Southampton on August 10 from 9.30am to 5pm with only one accompanying adult.
