WITH the sun beating down harder on the picturesque country park of Seaclose Park, Newport, than many could have wished for, thousands of fans are ready to party.

This year's Isle of Wight Festival promises to be one of the warmest on record, with a wealth of incredible artists primed to take to the stage.

But despite the feelgood factor emitting from the 50th edition of the festival, fans have voiced their anger are long queuing times and not being allowed to enter the site until 1pm.

Fans were left furious as staff members turned them away from the main festival site, even though they obtained day passes.

Dozens of parents, many with young children drenched in multicolour glitter, face paint and daisy chains, raged at the helpless door staff - many of whom were still unable to correctly direct people to one of the various themed sites.

Yesterday, others complained of queuing for hours in 20 degree heat.

Mistress Lady Tess‏ posted on Twitter: "Something needs to be done.

"People are fighting each other, absolutely no indication where the queue end is it’s like a wiggly maze of people.

"You need stewards or @HantsPolice back here before there are riots!

"This heat, lack of water, children about and alcohol involved."

Organisers apologised saying: "Please bear with us, the glorious weather has brought a lot of you lovely people in early but we still need to follow security rules to keep you all safe."

However, the wait will be worth it.

Across a packed line-up on Friday, the likes of Leicester rockers Kasabian, disco legends Nile Rodgers and CHIC, Feeder and Chase and Status will all entertain.

The campsites are already rowdy; musicians strum away at drunken Dolly Parton classics, lads enjoy a fully complimented bar in a camp tent and scores of people brave further heat by jumping in a hot tub.

It's still the early days of Isle of Wight Festival but so far the feeling remains buoyant.
