A HUNT has been launched for two people after a suspected stolen car crashed following a police chase.

Officers were called at about 4.45am today to reports that a VW Golf, which was believed to be stolen, was driving in the Lordshill area.

After a chase the Golf was involved with a crash with a police car on Lordshill Way, causing minor injuries to an officer.

Two people in the car fled on foot and police are still trying to track them down as part of the investigation.

A 16-year-old boy from Southampton was arrested at the scene of the crash on suspicion of drug driving, burglary, and aggravated vehicle taking, and remains in custody.

The vehicle was reported stolen from outside a house on Avenue Road, Southampton, between 1am and 8am on Saturday, June 30.
