ROMSEY couple Val and Geoff Morris celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary with friends and family this week.

The pair came down from London to retire in Romsey 30 years ago. Geoff is a chartered physicist who pent his life in the defence industry, while Val worked as a business lecturer.

Both have enjoyed success and helped to see many street signs replaced, including one for their own house. Both members of Romsey and District Society, Geoff remained on the executive committee for many years, raising funds and forming teams for a number of projects.

Other projects included his thoughts on redeveloping the south of the town centre for car park solutions, and the redevelopment of Market Place.

Meanwhile, Val has taken an interest in church buildings and joined a team of people in helping to record contents of them. They include St Boniface in Nursling, St Andrew in Mottisfont and others.

The couple marked their 60th anniversary with friends over the past week.
