1 In Shirley...

For the second year in a row, the Friends of St. James’ Park will be holding a fantastic, fun-filled and free Summer Festival for the whole family.

The Mayor, Councillor Barnes-Andrews and Councillor Satvir Kaur will open the event, which starts at 10.30am tomorrow. Even Disney Royalty Rapunzel has confirmed she will be visiting us!

There is a wide range of activities confirmed, from circus skills, cycling agility course, storytime, sports, face painting, tombola, bouncy castle and lots more.

A brilliant variety of dance and music will be performing live all day, and it's recommended that people bring their own blankets and chairs to best enjoy the show.

And we must not forget all the fab food on offer, such as tasty BBQ, Pizza van, crepes and more!

2 In Romsey...

It is one of the biggest events in Romsey’s calendar – tomorrow sees the return of the Beggars Fair.

From 11am onwards, music, dance, fun and entertainment return to the streets for the 26th annual event.

Throughout the streets and in venues, local musicians will bring a mix of folk, jazz, blues, soul, rock and world music. Together with colourful dance displays and children’s entertainment, there is plenty of attractions.

Big bands will play on the Cornmarket main stage to intimate acoustic music, and cheerful pub sessions will be accompanied by storytelling.

3 In Ashurst

The Tropical Butterfly House in Deerleap Lane is open to the end of October 2018.

In the pupae emerging box you can watch the pupa wiggle and move until the pupa split open to allow the adult butterfly to emerge.

It takes many hours for its wings to dry and be ready to release into the butterfly house.

The exotic adult butterflies are colourful as they enjoy the warmth of the Tropical Butterfly House.

You may be lucky and see some butterfly eggs or caterpillars on the the underside of the leaves (especially the banana leaves).

Can you find one of the many stick insects in the butterfly house?

4 In Lymington...

Lymington Carnival and Fete takes place on Sunday from 10am, with the parade beginning at 11am at the Town Hall car park in Avenue Road.

Lymington Sports Association is hosting the carnival fete for the 3rd year running, and welcoming at Lymington Sports Ground. The fete will be a free family fun packed day with plenty of live entertainment and something for everyone, from fair ground rides, bounce castles and face painting to local craft stalls, and ‘Oscars’ dog show.

5 In Lyndhurst...

It’s the annual Fabulous Festival Weekend at New Forest Inn, Emery Down!

All weekend indulge in a fine selection of local ales, cider and even some bubbles for the ladies, as well as a delicious BBQ and hog roast.

Saturday will also be a day of family fun with Punch and Judy, face painting and a bouncy castle.

6 In Southampton...

Tomorrow, Southampton’s biggest free family festival is back.

The Southampton Mela Festival will fill Hoglands Park with music, dance and family activities from around the world.

The Southampton Mela Festival is a long-standing summer highlight in Southampton’s events calendar – now in its 16th year.

Join Art Asia and 32,000 friends (2017 figure) for a day of free family fun and enjoy an assortment of music and dance styles from South Asia and around the world, including Indian Classical, Bollywood, Folk, World Music, Asian Fusion, Flamenco and Bhangra, plus great activities for the family, international food and market stalls and a friendly atmosphere.

7 In Wareham...

It's not only the country that has been gripped by football fever - the primates at Monkey World have too.

The bachelor chimpanzee group at Monkey World, better known as the “hooligans” of the park, are creating a ruckus with the footballs, with only a small amount of foul play.

The sanctuary recently received a donation of 26 footballs, which were seized by Dorset County Council’s trading standards as part of an investigation into a company selling faked football signatures.

The Dorset sanctuary is home to over 250 rescued and endangered monkeys and apes, from all around the world. Many of the primates have been rescued from neglect, abuse & unbelievable cruelty. At Monkey World, they have a safe and natural home with others of their own kind.

8 In Eastleigh...

Popup Chilli Fest returns tomorrow for another year to host the 5th chilli festival in Eastleigh from 10am to 5pm on Leigh Road Recreation Ground.

Hosted in this huge venue will be a variety of some of the best chilli producers from around the UK exhibiting some of the best chilli products like mild to crazy extreme chilli sauces, naga cooking sauces, chilli plants, chilli merchandise and more, which cannot be found in local outlets.

Along with exhibits there will also be street food and surrounding the entire venue is a number of restaurants, cafes and bars for visitors to put there feet up. Apart from that there will also be a chilli eating contest which will held around 2 to 3pm.

9 In Curdridge...

Join YMCA Fairthorne Manor on Sunday for the day and take part in activities including abseiling, aerial runway, vertical assault, kayaking and stand up paddleboarding plus much more.

It's £5 to park your car on site and all activities will be charged from £1 per session (exact prices available on the day).

No need to book, simply go along on the day and experience all the activities available on site.

10 In Romsey...

Mottisfont celebrates the 50th anniversary of Judith Kerry’s much-loved children’s classic, The Tiger Who Came to Tea, with lots of wonderful illustrations.

There’s original artwork from other famous Judith Kerr books too, including the Mog stories.

Kids can have tea with a 5ft cuddly tiger, in the colourful pop-up kitchen.

There’s dressing up costumes, and outside, a fantastic themed activity trail.
