A MAN has been arrested following a string of sexual assaults on buses in Southampton.

It comes after police received five reports of a man sexually assaulting women on buses in the city since June.

And officers believe more incidents have occurred that have so far gone unreported.

Police say on each occasion a woman has been touched inappropriately by a man described as having "brown skin" and aged between 60 and 70-years-old.

The incidents have happened on buses in Southampton between June 11 and July 14.

The most recent happened at a bus stop on Cooper's Lane, Woolston, where a 15-year-old girl was assaulted.

Police have now arrested a 70-year-old man from London on suspicion of sexual assault.

He has been released from police custody but remains under investigation.

Police are now appealing for information on any other incidents that have happened.

They are also urging witnesses to any of the incidents to come forward and speak to police.

Officers are specifically looking to speak with four people they believe assisted the 15-year-old girl during the Cooper's Lane incident.
