TRAIN lines were blocked between Fareham and Southampton Central Railway Station after reports of a person being hit by a train.

South Western Railway told customer last night that emergency services are dealing with the incident and that train services running through the stations will be delayed or revised.

On its website, the firm said: "Due to the emergency services dealing with an incident between Fareham and Southampton Central all lines are currently blocked. Emergency services are working to resolve the situation but until they have completed their work no trains can travel in either direction. More information to follow when available.

"We are currently in the process of arranging replacement road transport. To help you complete your journey, your tickets will be accepted on Southern services by any reasonable route.

"Your rail ticket will also be accepted on First bus routes 3, F3, X4, and X5.

"If you require any further help please speak to a member of station staff or use a station help point.

"We are sorry for any delay this may cause to your journey."
