HAMPSHIRE festival, Jerk Jam, has announced details of its annual cooking battle, Jerk Off, which is the high point of the event that takes place this weekend.

The Jerk Off BBQ takes centre stage on the festival site with a kitchen styled as a boxing ring.

The competition will see 12 cooks, four jerk pans, three rounds of cooking with one overall winner.

Cooks will battle it out to cook the best meat or fish dish - with the audience the judge – that means free food for all!

Festival organisers said: “The Jerk Off battle is always popular as 12 local chefs battle it out to be crowned king or queen of the jerk!

“We are proud that the Jerk Off will be hosted by South London’s finest jerk junkies, White Men Can’t Jerk, who will be providing the full interactive soundsystem and succulent sustenance”.

The winner will win a £250 cash prize and all the meat or fish will be provided by the organisers in advance.

Jerk Jam takes place on Saturday at Houndhill Farm in Fareham and will feature live performances from Omar, Legend (Bob Marley tribute), Altern8 plus local acts including Foor, Junco Shakers and many more.

More information can be found on the official website: www.jerkjam.co.uk.

Adult tickets cost £25 and children over the age of eight are £10.
