MORE than 30 retirement flats will be built beside one of the main roads in Lymington if the scheme is given the go-ahead.
McCarthy and Stone is seeking consent to bulldoze three existing properties at Milford Road, Lymington, and replace them with a three-storey block of apartments.
The site is next door to Belmore Lodge care home.
The planning application says: “The development would provide the opportunity for a high-quality residential development that would positively contribute to meeting a local housing need for older people.
“It represents a sustainable development, with wide-ranging social and planning benefits both for potential residential and the community as a whole.”
The council is due to decide the application by early October. Anyone who wishes to submit a comment on the proposal must do so by August 12.
