A CRACK crew of workers will be scouring the roads in a bid to eradicate the city’s worsening pothole crisis.

‘Find & Fix’ teams, run by Balfour Beatty, are now hunting out potholes and filling them in as and when they find them.

Southampton City Council announced the plans to deploy four crews to work throughout the day to fill in any damaged road patches the teams come across.

The potholes will be ones that have not been reported to the city council and is part of the city council’s multi-million pound scheme to improve the roads.

Earlier Councillor Jacqui Rayment, cabinet member for transport and public realm at the city council, announced the roll out of an £8m roads investment programme, which would tackle resurfacing works and pavements in residential areas.

On top of this, an additional £300,000 has now been given to fund the ‘Find & Fix’ teams.

Cllr Rayment said: “We have listened to what residents are telling us about roads and have approved an additional £300k of funding for a dedicated and fully equipped crew to tackle potholes quickly and efficiently.

“They have already begun their work to systematically cover the entire city, finding intervention level potholes and repairing them on the spot.

“We have already invested millions of pounds into the repair of potholes and the roads programme over the past three years.

“This further investment is proof of our commitment to improving our transport network for the benefit of all.”
