POLICE are continuing to investigate the murder of Southampton schoolgirl Lucy McHugh, whose body was found in a wooded area of the Sports Centre last Thursday.
Since the discovery of the 13-year-old's body, officers have worked around the clock to piece together Lucy's final movements.
Working with Hampshire Constabulary, we've compiled a list of ways you can help progress the police's investigation.
1. Sightings
Lucy was last seen leaving her home in Mansel Road East on Wednesday, July 25, at around 9am.
Her body was discovered in wooded area near the Sports Centre on Thursday. Did you see her at any point?
Lucy was last seen wearing the following clothes:
• Distinctive black jacket with white sleeves, the logo for the band Falling in Reverse on the front and RADKE 01 in red on the back
• White vest top
• Camouflage leggings
• Black and white Jordan 23 trainers
Detective superintendent Paul Barton, who is leading the investigation, said: “Please think back to this time last week and remember where you were and what you may have seen.
“It may have seemed insignificant at the time but, knowing now what has happened, it could prove vital to our investigation.
“We specifically want to speak to anyone who was with Lucy, who spoke to her or thinks they may have seen her last Wednesday or into the early hours of Thursday."
2. CCTV and dashcam footage
Police have appealed for CCTV and dashcam footage from the Millbrook and Lordshill areas last Wednesday or Thursday morning.
Officers are particularly interested in footage around 9am on Wednesday, July 25 - when Lucy left her home on Mansel Road East.
3. Secrets
Police want to speak to anyone who believes they know about secrets Lucy may have had.
Was she keeping secrets that may help officers piece together why she disappeared? Who was she talking to?
Officers are particularly keen to speak to friends who may know things about Lucy that she may have not wanted people to know.
4. Weapon
Police are still searching for a weapon.
They believe a sharp implement was used, but have so far been unable to identify it.
Officers say it could be a knife, scissors or another bladed implement.
Have you seen something? Even if you have thrown something away, police would like to know, as they will attempt to recover it.
5. Please do not speculate on social media
Police are appealing for members of the public not to speculate about the case on social media.
DS Paul Barton said: "We fully understand that emotions are running high in the community, but we again appeal for people not to speculate about the details of the investigation on social media.
"It doesn’t help the investigation or Lucy’s family at this difficult time.”
