AN EASTLEIGH supermarket announced its charity of the year.
Customers at Sainsbury’s chose the Firefighters’ Charity as the one to support this year.
Now staff at the Leigh Road branch have organised a programme of events over the next 12 months to support firefighters and their work.
Sainsbury’s general assistant Adam McGuire said: “We had some crew down here with their fire engine.
“We are raising awareness and getting donations from the public so people know who they are and what they do.
“It’s the public who voted for them with 636 votes in total.
“We’ll be at all their open days and there’s a children’s evening on September 14.”
Fundraiser Kerry James said: “Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service are an integral part of the community in Eastleigh.”
