HEAVY rain is threatening to put a dampener on the arrival of the Red Arrows over the Solent and the departure of the 'Three Queens' from Southampton docks.
A downpour of rain hit the city earlier today and is expected to continue this evening (August 10) - when Cunard ships, Queen Elizabeth, Queen Victoria and Queen Mary 2, set sail from the city's port.
The famous Red Arrows are also expected to perform for Cowes Week at 7.30pm tonight, before performing a smoke fly-over of the iconic ships at 7.52pm.
But fans of the famous air acrobatic team now have a nervous wait.
Red Arrows bosses are set to make an 11th hour decision on whether or not the display will go ahead, due to the weather.

However it is good news if the Met Office are correct in their forecast.
The weather experts predict another bout of heavy rain over Cowes at 6pm, before sun begins to break through at 7pm.

And by 8pm, the Met Office even predict there could be clear skies.
If the Red Arrows display gets the green light, it is due to start at 7.30pm.
This will be followed by a smoke fly-over above Three Queens at approximately 7.52pm.
Shoreside viewing is recommended from Lee-on-the-Solent, East Cowes Esplanade, West Cowes, Stokes Bay and Sea View, Ryde Esplanade or Southsea.
