WORLD famous alternative rock band Gorillaz are set to take to the stage at BoomTown tonight – in what organisers are calling a "UK exclusive".

Winchester’s BoomTown Fair will host Damon Albarn’s virtual band on the all-inspiring Lion's Den stage.

The performance, starting at 9.15pm, is one of the most hotly anticipated at BoomTown this year – the festival's 10th anniversary edition.

Fresh from completing a huge world tour for their recent album Humanz, the Gorillaz are ready to enthral the 60,000 in attendance at BoomTown with their superior musicianship and visual mastery.

“Having the Gorillaz perform on our newly rebuilt Lion’s Den arena is beyond anything we could have imagined when we first started 10 years ago.” the organisers said.

“It’s unbelievably exciting to start collaborating for this one off show next summer and to delve into all the ways in which we can make the very most of the similarities between our musical styles and story based performance."

British alternative rock band Enter Shikari are also set to play the Town Centre stage tonight.

The performance comes three days into the creative four day festival.

Last night, revellers were treated to performances from the likes of Walsall-born musician Goldie, electronic duo, Sleaford Mods, and Malian born musicians Amadou and Mariam.

Despite Gorillaz headlining Saturday, revellers will have plenty to look forward to on Sunday.

Iconic American rap rock band Limp Bizkit will headline on Sunday night, along with the likes of popular electronic duo Maribou State.

BoomTown's 'secret headliner' will also take to the stage on Sunday.
