A SOUTHAMPTON teenager could be set to win hearts in an international competition.

Danielle Weeks, 19, from Sholing, will represent her home town in the Miss Galaxy pageant contest. The former Sholing Technology College pupil will head to a glitzy hotel in Lancashire next year to be judged amongst others in the competition.

But she will also have to prove to the panel that she is also a committed to helping good causes.

Danielle - who also wowed employers at Snows in Hedge End when she won apprentice of the year last year - has already shown her dedication to helping others by signing up with Saints Foundation. And she will also be supporting colleagues from Snows when they run the Great South Run later this year, raising cash for other local charities.

Speaking to the Echo she said: "I want to use it as a platform to say you can be a role model for girls and do amazing things.

"As much as I'd love to win Miss Galaxy I'm hoping it will widen my pathway into the modelling industry and being able to get involved with charities in more depth to help make a change.

"I'm a strong believer that you should kill the world with kindness and that a simple smile can go a long way so I'm hoping to do the best I can in the final."

If she does well in the four rounds - which include an interview, swimwear, evening wear and fashion wear where she can choose an outfit of her choice - she could go on to compete in the next phase - in America. She will also be judged on how many appearances she makes in public and how much she raises for charity.
