KENWYNE Jones has been condemned for showing a "contemptuous" attitude towards Saints and their supporters.
The Trinidadian striker yesterday dropped a double bombshell on the eve of today's home Championship clash against Stoke.
Not only did he hand in a written transfer request, but it was revealed that he has told boss George Burley he does not want to play against the Potters this afternoon.
That has led to Jones being heavily criticised by Saints fans for his bad timing.
Steve Godwin, chairman of the Saints Trust, said: "Jones is well within his rights to hand in a transfer request.
"But to say he doesn't want to play against Stoke shows his contempt for the club that gave him his big chance and his contempt for the fans."
