A NEW event aimed at getting more young people into engineering is coming to Hampshire in the autumn.

The Engineering Festival will be held on November 8 at Fareham Leisure Centre from 10.30am to 3pm.

The event will give young people the opportunity to better understand the importance of engineering as well as find out about the many careers available to them.

MP Suella Braverman is encouraging businesses in Hampshire to get involved with the festival.

She said: “The UK faces an estimated shortfall of 20,000 engineering graduates every year, with half of companies in the sector saying the shortage is having a significant impact on their productivity and growth.

“So I am calling on businesses in our area to help me in opening the minds of young people to the opportunities and significance of engineering by joining the Solent Festival of Engineering.

“Your support will be invaluable in helping to inspire and educate young people in Fareham.

“All companies who take part will be credited on my website, It is free for you to hold a stall and take part in the Festival.”

Companies interested in becoming involved in the festival have until September 10 to sign up and can do so by emailing suella@suella braverman.co.uk
