A GROUP of travellers who caused disruption at a Hampshire railway station have left the site, civic chiefs say.

More than a dozen vehicles were parked at Eastleigh station last night - causing disruption for commuters this morning.

The group blocked a large area of the car park, sparking a warning about a lack of on site spaces.

Rail bosses said this morning that the issue was due to an 'obstruction'.

But Eastleigh Borough Council say the group have since moved from the site.

In a statement, issued on Twitter, they said: "The unauthorised encampment have now left the car park at Eastleigh train station.

"South Western Railway are taking appropriate steps to clear up the car park area and return it to use as soon as practically possible."

Eastleigh MP Mims Davies took to social media to give her view of the 'incursion'.

She said: "Thanks to residents for contacting me in regard to incursion situation and limited access to Eastleigh station.

"I will pass on anything received from Eastleigh police.

"I’m aware extra are patrols in place.

"Constituents be assured I’ll keep them updated."
