A NEW play starring survivors of strokes is coming to a Hampshire theatre.

Stroke Odysseys is billed as a “daring movement and song project” exploring intertwined journeys of recovery – and informed by three years of research in a stroke community by charity Rosetta Life.

Founded in 1997 by Lucinda Jarrett, Rosetta Life is a charity which offers people living with life-limiting conditions the creative means to explore narratives of illness and memory.

The charity delivers choral, dance and film projects in hospices and works with participants to create works that are presented in a performance context.

The show comes to the Point at Eastleigh on October 4.

Running alongside it will be workshops and discussions for performers and those working in the health care professions will explore the role of the arts in health care and hospitals.

Creative programmer at The Point, Vicki Hargreaves, said the venue has a “focus on providing the local community with interactive classes and workshops that will promote a happy, healthy lifestyle.”

She added: “We are extremely excited to bring this project and performance to Eastleigh.

“The work we are developing in dance and health is ever growing.

“By working in partnership with Rosetta Life it enables us to bring high quality research in arts and health to the local community, alongside an exceptional dance performance that is deeply moving.

“This is one not to miss!”
