The Honeypot Children’s Charity has unveiled the addition of a kitchen garden to their Honeypot House in the New Forest this summer, where young carers and vulnerable children as young as five visit for respite breaks.

The kitchen garden is intended for children to learn where their food comes from and practical tips about nutrition, gardening, and how to grow vegetables, fruits and edible flowers.

Although the garden has just opened, the children are already using their fresh-grown herbs to make dips and toppings for home-made pizzas.

The garden was funded by the Tesco Bags of Help scheme.

“We really appreciate the £4,000 grant that Tesco Bags of Help provided to make this happen,” said Kate Browning, regional fundraising manager at Honeypot.

“The garden is a wonderful addition to Honeypot House for children visiting to have fun learning how to grow their own fruits and vegetables.”

Honeypot provides respite breaks and on going outreach support to young carers and vulnerable children aged between five and 12 years old.

With no government funding, donations such as this make such a huge difference to the charity and the children it supports.
