HAMPSHIRE civic boss Ken Thornber has agreed a reprieve for the Tower Arts Centre in Winchester.
The centre was due to be transferred to Kings School in December once the Discovery Centre opens in the city centre.
But a strong public campaign was sparked after the Daily Echo revealed the plans which would have killed off the centre evening programme.
Mr Thornber has agreed to defer a final decision until December 7 following a public consultation, inlcuding a public meeting in November and a telephone poll of 500 residents.
A petition on the prime Ministers website currently stands at 1,096 signatures.
