WATER supplies were cut-off in a Southampton estate this morning.

A number of residents in parts of the SO16 area say water supplies were stopped after the water main burst around 5.30am.

One resident in Lordswood said they were without water this morning, while a resident in Rownhams also reported a lack of water.

Southern Water say the issue involves a burst water main in Waltham Crescent, Southampton.

Around 50 properties are said to be without water or experiencing low pressure.

Residents are being warned this could take 'a few hours'.

A spokesperson for Southern Water said: "We’re currently dealing with a burst 4” water main in Waltham Crescent, Southampton.

Our specialist crew have been on site since the early hours of this morning to locate and fix the issue.

Repairs have begun and while we work as quickly and safely as possible 50 properties in Waltham Crescent may be experience low pressure or loss of supply.

"We hope to fix and restore water in the next few hours.

We apologise for the inconvenience and would like to thank everyone affected for their patience while we work on this emergency.

"During investigations, a few customers in the wider area may have noticed low pressure or loss of supply but things should now be back to normal."
