Q: SHEFFIELD has given us Pulp, Arctic Monkeys and now Milburn.

Why do so many good bands originate from Sheffield? A: There's always been good bands in Sheffield and when one or two get the go-ahead it gives the other bands a boost.

After the Arctic Monkeys' success, the press started to come to Sheffield and that helped us.

Bands like us weren't too far behind, and the attention we received helped give us the confidence to go and make a career out of our music.

Will the Noughties be remembered for Sheffield's music scene, like "Madchester" in the 90s? Hopefully.

We eventually want to achieve that, but in the 90s it felt like every band that came out (Stone Roses, Happy Mondays, Charlatans) were recognised on their own merit.

At the moment every band from this area is compared to the Arctic Monkeys.

Where do you most like to play in the UK? Everywhere around Sheffield is great, and when we play Newcastle or Scotland we seem to go down really well.

The Wedgewood Rooms is a really good venue.

Which musicians inspire you? Our inspiration has evolved since the first album.

I still love the Beatles, and I've been listening to a lot of the Rubber Soul album lately.

We've also been enjoying Johnny Cash, Motown and our drummer Joe Green has been listening to lots of Ray Charles.

Have the band played in any strange places? We used to rehearse in our drummer's nan's loft, which was pretty weird.

We played a pub in Derby for about 150 people, where we were squeezed right in - that was pretty bizarre.

But after playing some bigger venues it was a lot more intimate and also more fun.

That's why the Wedgewood Rooms is a good venue - the band is so close to the crowd.

With the tour and new album These Are The Facts being released, could September be big for Milburn? Yes.

With a bit of confidence and all the good feedback we've been getting this should be the best time.

At the start of the month Jo Whiley had us as the record of the week for What Will You Do (When The Money Goes)? so we'll see what happens.

If you had to play a cover on Jo Whiley's Live Lounge, what would it be? We'd have to do something totally different to us, probably something by Destiny's Child.

What's on your rider? We like a cooked chicken but we're getting bored of the same old cheese sandwiches.

We need to be more adventurous! Arron Hendy
