POLICE have named the Hampshire man whose death has triggered a murder inquiry.

Pedestrian Sagar Bhatti, 23, of Avon Green, Chandler's Ford, died after being hit by two cars at Woodside Avenue, Eastleigh, shortly before 6am on Sunday.

Two Eastleigh men aged 26 and 29 have been arrested on suspicion of murder and are in police custody.

Police say the men were not in either of the cars involved in the collision and officers are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding Mr Bhatti's death.

His family are being supported by specialist officers.

Detective Inspector Lee Macarthur, who is leading the inquiry, said: "This is a complex investigation and we are hoping those living in the area may be able to help.

“As a result of our enquiries so far we are looking for information in relation to two different areas.

“The first is in Broadlands Avenue and we would like to speak to anyone who may have seen or heard a disturbance in this area between 5am and 5.45am on Sunday.

“If you live in the area and have CCTV, please let us know as you may have captured something which could assist our investigation.

“The second is Woodside Avenue, where the collision took place.

“If you saw anyone in the area between these times or think you may have captured something on your dash cam then please let us know.

“Even the smallest bits of information, that might not seem significant to you, may turn out to be very valuable to the investigation, so please do get in touch.”
